This week's guest on Inner Monologue is Yoga Teacher, Meditation Guide and Sound Healer, Hamid Jabbar.  Hamid shares his experiences with spiritual drive-by, which he  considers to be a transformational life experience that alters your life course to a new chapter. Due to several of these experiences, he shifted his life from stressful living in Los Angeles as a lawyer to a meditative yogic lifestyle.  We also discuss the value of applying what one learns in yoga and meditation into real world scenarios.

This week on Inner Monologue podcast we have storyteller and organizer of Chatterbox Storytelling, Jessie Balli.  Chatterbox Storytelling is a local weekly storytelling event in downtown Phoenix. We begin our conversation  reflecting upon the function of the storyteller within society. Jessie also shares how she got involved with storytelling. There is a very profound community building that takes place in sharing stories, which ultimately allows us to learn from one another and connect.

This week on Inner Monologue podcast we have artist Andrew Morales. Andrew is currently a tattoo apprentice at Old Town Ink in Scottsdale, AZ. In addition to tattooing, Andrew is a painter, digital graphic artist and also involved in block carving for making his own customized t-shirts.  He shares his journey of apprenticeship as well as its origin. He has gained profound experience and knowledge through the wild antics and fellowship of the artists in the shop. He also reflects on an odd experience he had with a customer and their request for the most unconventional place to get a tattoo.

With over a decade of being a holistic teacher at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, she shares the emotional responsibility that we need to have to find a balance for ourselves in self care. She opens up about the importance of taking care of yourself and healing your internal world in order to connect to the outside world. She also reflects on the projects she is developing, including a documentary film and the power of getting out of your own way to claim your greatness.

This week's guest on Inner Monologue podcast is musician, Rob Riccardo.  Born and raised in Long Island, NY, Rob found passion in skateboarding, surfing and music.  Living near beaches, he shares the potent influence the ocean had on him and its healing and meditative power. Rob opens up about his experience working at Fox News in New York City, his love for long distance running and the inevitable need to find a slower pace for his life by moving to the desert. We also discuss his recommitment to his music and the inspiration for his debut album, The Calm Within.

This week's guest on Inner Monologue podcast is loss survivor, Jen Scott Innocenti.  Jen lost her husband to suicide in the beginning of 2016. She opens up to share her story of loss and how she responded to the traumatic experience, as well as the healing journey she embarked upon. Jen made a conscious decision to seek out professional help, gain support from community and learn different tools that inspired her and her three young boys to heal.

This week on Inner Monologue podcast we have Pamela Argust, co-founder and Curriculum Coordinator of Mindful Youth Project, a local non-profit organization dedicated to educating youth with mindfulness, connection to nature and conscious awareness. We discuss the power of raising children who are conscious in the world and how our current educational systems don't provide a platform for children to truly play and learn about life. We speak about what brought her to the journey of being inspired to support children in this way and the profound effect this can have on her own family and community. ​This week on Inner Monologue podcast we have Therapist, Jane Fendelman. She works with individuals, families and couples in counseling sessions. Through her work, she developed a technique to heal old childhood trauma and sexual assault.  We discuss the vulnerability of men sharing their emotions and men's body image issues. She shares the sexual assault experience she had as a child which led her into her own journey learning to cope with the difficulty of that occurrence.  We discuss the concept of being in denial of a traumatic experience and then  being authentic with ourselves in order to heal.  Her path of purpose evolved from leaving job positions that weren't the best fit for her interests and she opened up an after school program for latchkey children. She was inspired to open the school due to her own experiences of being deeply lonely after school and engaging in unhealthy habits.  Her own journey of healing and trauma fueled her life's mission of all of her dreams and service to help others in her field, being the figure for others to believe in them and ultimately offer healing support.

This week's guest on Inner Monologue Podcast is comedian, Forbes Shannon.  In high school, Forbes suffered several intense concussions while playing hockey. The injuries lead to serious loss of motor functions, the inability to read and even a sensitivity to light.  Following these incidents, he was no longer able to play hockey and was then diagnosed with depression and anxiety.  Despite his mental health issues, Forbes dedicated himself to his school work and volunteering in the community. After moving to Arizona to attend Arizona State University, Forbes found new challenges while dealing with his mental health issues and his profound desire to achieve.  He has now bounced back from such severe injuries, as an unstoppable force.

We also discuss the power of the healing modalities, Ashiatsu and Jin Shin Jyutsu, and the importance of recognizing the language of the body and the signs it sends you toward your own healing.

William Zev is a Fine Artist from Scottsdale, Arizona.  In his early years, the traditional high school model didn't fit for him, so his parents decided to enroll him into the New School for the Art.  He began his art journey by sitting in his bedroom doodling in a notebook.  He had aspirations for being a filmmaker or digital artist, but everything changed once he was introduced to oil painting. William's art now reflects his appreciation for the transcendence of the animal kingdom and other mysteries of the universe.

This week on Inner Monologue podcast we have the guest, Laura Baran, artist and co-founder of Arts and Dreams based in New York City. Arts and Dreams is an organization offering creative workshops and classes to help others heal and empower themselves through the arts. The organization was inspired by the experience of her brother's suicide many years ago, where she used her own art practice to heal from the loss. She shares the power of having an outlet when handling difficult experiences or uncomfortable emotions. She also discusses the process of healing herself through creativity and affirmations within art. This has rippled out into her life and shifted everything for her for the better. She emphasizes the commitment she has to self love and changing herself and how much art played an important role in starting this path. Developing this organization has also taught her that community is its own form of healing. It exposes her to many through the arts and empowerment and invites her into a role of connection and growth.

This week on Inner Monologue podcast we have guest Travis Moore, professional photographer and survivor based in Lawrence, Kansas. He shares the art form of professional photography and how he finds inspiration, always seeing the world through a photographic perspective. He describes the layered process of grief after losing his brother, who was his best friend and mentor. His love of nature and outdoor adventure became one of his main healing sources with the combination of photography to release his pain into his art form. He discusses the concept of adrenaline and adventure which  brings you closer to death, allowing you to appreciate life that much more. He also shares the journey of finding yourself again on a solo trip and the open road, knowing who you are after experiencing challenge.

This week's guest on Inner Monologue is Journalism Major, Jamee Lind. Jamee has a long history with the subject of addiction. Both parents dealt with their own addiction with drugs & alcohol. Jamee's own plight with addiction has to do with technology, particularly social media. We exchange our personal experience with addiction and our belief that our addictions were symptoms to great underlying issues.

This week's guest on Inner Monologue is an Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist, Keith Fandry PT, DPT and Director of Back in Action Pain Therapy. Keith is one of the three primary therapists who helped nurse me back to recovery after back surgery. He is a renaissance man who also has a passion for riding motor cross, building guitars and helping heal those who suffer from physical pain or injury. Keith's interest in health started as a child while watching his younger brother suffer from asthma. He learned from an early age about the faults of the healthcare system and this inspired him to take a more holistic approach to physical recovery.

Ben Soto is a speech therapist and musician. As a speech therapist, he has helped stroke victims recover their speech and also assists children with various developmental disorders in low socio-economic communities. As a musician he is part of a trio group called Phantom Airship. Ben talks about the similarities of being a musician and speech therapist. He shares the concept of the voice being an instrument and the ability to communicate to others is a necessary tool the survival of human beings.

We discuss the concept of when one is not happy and you have to make a very hard decision to change your life and learning to trust your decisions and move toward making your life better. He talks about the love of serving others and having changes of heart in career direction. We also discuss the journey through the steps and growing pains of starting a business from scratch and sticking to it during the growth and evolution. During the path of entrepreneurship, some people limit themselves because they don't have the resources. We reflect on the voice in your head that says that you are going to fail and how to not give up and rise above the doubt, finding a balance in your life while doing what you love.

Through mindfulness and meditation, she has learned how to recognize stress and no longer let it control her life.
